To reduce theft of Apple iPhones and iPads dubbed by the company as "apple picking," they have now added a new feature, Activation Lock, in iOS 7. It is a "kill switch" that aims to make the gadgets less valuable to thieves. Before the Find My iPhone feature or any data is erased, it would require the Apple ID and password. It will also be required to reactivate the device. Image

This is Apple's answer to the clamor for a kill switch tool to all mobile devices by advocates to minimize and deter smartphone thefts.
