Olinguito, Smallest Member of the Raccoon Family Discovered

The Olinguito, a sister species of the olingo, is the first mammalian carnivore species discovered in 35 years, scientists at the Smithsonian in Washington announced. It belongs to the Carnivora order along with cats and bears. It's appearance is a cross between a teddy bear and a house cat and it's face is more rounded that the olingo and it is more furry. According to Kristofer Helgen, curator of mammals at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, there are 4 subspecies of olinguito living in the Andes. They vary in size and color. Olinguitos eat fruits, insects and nectar. They live in trees in cloud forests and it's activity is mostly at night. A mother takes care of a single baby at a time.
